What to See at the Conservatory

Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens has an 11,000-square-foot tropical plant exhibition area, with water features, seating areas and sculptures. The full facility covers 22,000 square feet, giving you an indoor garden to explore alongside the outdoor grounds.

The conservatory opened in October 2011 as the Rockford Park District’s centennial project. Outside, Sinnissippi Gardens offers a separate garden visit, with paved paths and benches throughout the grounds.

The conservatory’s butterfly exhibit is an annual spring exhibit. During the Secret Life of Butterflies exhibit, strollers are not allowed in the butterfly house, so plan accordingly if you’re visiting with a stroller.
